Hanover is also the home of Southwestern High School . Hanover was founded in 1809 by Williamson Dunn. The original name of the town was "Dunn's Settlement." Dunn's home, Hanover's first building, still stands at the southeast corner of 1st and Locust Streets. The Point, located on the campus of Hanover College, is the only place along the Ohio River that three bends can be viewed in the river.
