Huntsville is the home of Sam Houston State University. It is the county seat of Walker County and is situated in East Texas. Huntsville is the headquarters of the Texas Department of Criminal Justice . As such, it houses the execution chamber of the state of Texas. Executions take place in the historic downtown building known as The Walls, also known as the Huntsville Prison.
