Jackson is the birthplace of legendary African American football coach Eddie Robinson , who was affiliated with Grambling State University in Grambling in Lincoln Parish. Jackson was the location of Methodist-affiliated Centenary College from its founding in 1825 until 1908, when it relocated to Shreveport.
