Kingsville is a city in Kleberg County, Texas, United States. The population was 25,575 at the 2000 census. It is the county seat of Kleberg County and the principal city of the Kingsville Micropolitan Statistical Area, which is part of the larger Corpus Christi-Kingsville Combined Statistical Area. Kingsville was formed in 1904 as Mrs. Henrietta King donated land for the original townsite, which is now located within the heart of the world-famous King Ranch. She inherited the land from Capt. Richard King along with a $500,000 debt. The King family would later make a fortune in oil and gas. Mrs. King was extremely instrumental in helping develop the city into a center of agriculture, oil and banking in the South Texas region. She donated land for Catholic, Baptist, and Episcopal churches and for what is now Texas A&M University-Kingsville.
