Lafayette is a city in Yamhill County, Oregon, United States. The population was 2,586 at the 2000 census. The 2006 population estimate is 3,440 residents. Lafayette was the county seat of Yamhill County from its founding in 1843 until 1886, when county residents voted to move the county seat to McMinnville.
