It was named after the Biblical Lebanon because of the many juniper or Eastern Redcedar trees there, similar to the Lebanon Cedar. It is known today as "The Cedar City". The name is officially pronounced LEH-buh-nihn, but is frequently pronounced "LEB-nuhn" by locals. . Although an old small town in its own right, it serves as a suburban bedroom community of Cincinnati and is increasingly looked at as a cheaper, less congested alternative to places like Mason.
