Pinckney is a village in Livingston County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The population was 2,141 at the 2000 census. Major roads which run though Pinckney are M-36 and Livingston County Highway D19. Not far from Pinckney is the famous locale known as Hell, Michigan. Pinckney is the birthplace of pioneering children's pop-up book artist and paper engineer Robert Sabuda and of novelist and short story writer Glendon Swarthout.
