Rainbow City is a city in Etowah County, Alabama, United States. It is part of the 'Gadsden, Alabama Metropolitan Statistical Area'. At the 2000 census the population was 8,428. It is the birthplace of the former University of Alabama star quarterback, Brodie Croyle. Rainbow City is also the birthplace of funny woman Becky Hagedorn who is currently a staff member for the Late Show with David Letterman.
