Strong is a town in Franklin County, Maine, United States. The population was 1,259 at the 2000 census. The Maine Republican Party was founded here on August 7, 1854. The town was named for Caleb Strong, Governor of Massachusetts from 1800 to 1807, and from 1812 to 1816 .
