Addison, Illinois

Addison is a village in DuPage County, Illinois, United States. The population was 35,914 at the 2000 census. A 2003 recount gave the community a population of 36,378. The Village of Addison lies on Salt Creek. The community itself was named after 18th century writer Joseph Addison. Addison is home to two large High Schools, both of which converge students from various neighboring villages: Addison Trail High School and Driscoll Catholic High School, which has won six consecutive state football championships from 2001 to 2006. The Addison Industrial District was the proposed location for the reconstruction of Comiskey Park before it was voted down. Bobby Hull was an Addison resident during his Blackhawk playing days. Adventureland amusement park was located in Addison during the 1960's and 1970's. Larry Hartwig has been the Mayor of Addison since 1995.
