Collierville is a city in Shelby County, Tennessee and a suburb of the Memphis metropolitan area. As of the 2000 census, the town population was 31,872. More recent estimates hint that the city's population is very far above 40,000 people due to extensive housing starts and a residential boom in the area over the past few years. Collierville is a mainly upscale town of large houses and considerable retail expansion. But, unlike its neighbors, much still remains of the "old" town in Collierville, when it was less of a suburb than it was a self-contained community. Those smaller houses, and some industry, still dot the landscape in Collierville. Among the many amenities in this swiftly growing community is the Historic Square, in Collierville's downtown area.
