Lake Oswego is a city in Clackamas County, Oregon, United States. It is located south of Portland and surrounds the private 405-acre Oswego Lake. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 35,278. The 2006 estimate is 36,350 residents. Lake Oswego is notable for its reputation as one of the most affluent suburbs of Portland. In 2000, the city had a median income of $71,597, up from $57,499 in 1990. Additionally, like the rest of the Portland metropolitan area, house prices have grown rapidly ; the median value in 2000 was $296,200, over twice what it was in 1990 .
