Volunteer Opportunity - Teachers and Tutors

Academy of Hope is a non-profit that provides high quality adult basic education services in Wards 5 and 8. We have classes classes in basic reading, writing and math, GED preparation, computer literacy, career development and college preparation. We offer classes in the mornings, afternoons, and evenings Monday-Thursday, and tutoring Friday mornings. We are currently recruiting volunteer teachers and tutors. In general, volunteers give about 2-3 hours of their time 1-2 days a week. Our main location in Ward 5 is located in the Edgewood Terrace Apartment Community in Northeast DC, right on the D8 and G8 bus lines and a short walk from both the Rhode Island Avenue and Brookland-CUA Metro stations.
