RN/First Assist/SNLYuma Regional Medical Center - Yuma, AZPerforms first assistant responsibilities in accordance with the State of Arizona Nurse Practice Act and AORN Standards. A Registered Nurse who functions under the direct supervision of the surgeon being assisted. Assists the surgeon on a surgical procedure by positioning, prepping and draping the patient, retracting tissue, suturing and ligating tissue, suctioning and applying dressings. The first assistant does not function in the scrubbed role on the procedure and is dedicated solely to assisting the primary surgeon.
