The Correctional Officer I is an entry level unarmed security position receiving training to competently work one of three general post assignments; Booking, pod and floor to include visitation or Master Control. A Correctional Officer I relies heavily upon interpersonal communication skills and techniques and writing skills to prepare accurate, and sometimes extensive documentation, reports and court testimony. All post assignments perform activities necessary to maintain the health, safety, security and welfare of jail staff and incarcerated individuals (inmates).
