  The purpose of a certification system for Behavioral Health Technician is to: Give basic nursing care for the psychiatric patient, under the supervision of a registered nurse. Maintain patient safety through observing and reporting to RN patient behaviors, communications, interactions and physical status. This includes technical monitoring and physical care of the patient. Participate with restraining and secluding patients. Interact therapeutically with patient and family. Document care given. Check for contraband, make rounds and monitor meals. Plan and facilitate didactic and social group activities. Document observations, interventions and group activities in the patient record.
