The Vallejo Police Department seeks able, ambitious men and women who desire to build a worthwhile career in the professional police field. After completing an extensive training program, a Police Officer performs a variety of assignments, including patrol, criminal investigation, juvenile control, community relations, traffic enforcement and plain-clothes work. Promotions are made by competitive examination from within the department.
Knowledge of:
Basic law enforcement terminology and concepts;
Techniques for dealing with people of all socio-economic levels under hostile and emergency situations;
Ability to:
Read and understand departmental policies, instructions, laws and regulations.
Analyze situations and to adopt a quick, effective and reasonable course of action.
