Two posdoctoral positions in emerging research areas are available in the Membrane Biophysics/Bioengineering Laboratory at Rice University. The first project involves studying the transmembrane protein prestin, a novel motor proten that plays a vital role in hearing. The research involves combing advanced optical imaging (FRET, FLIM, FRAP) and electrophysiology to study prestin-prestin and prestin-membrane interactions. Prestin is a member of the family of solute-linked carrier proteins, and this research will also have implications for membrane interactions of transport proteins.
