RESERVE DEPUTY SHERIFF *VOLUNTEER/UNPAID*
Reserve Deputy work consists of augmenting the Deputy Sheriff classification within the Law Enforcement Division of the Sheriffs Office in the areas of road patrol, river patrol, and community service. Reserve Deputies are a supplemental resource for the investigation, and prevention of criminal activity, and the enforcement of statutes. Reserve Deputies patrol in a radio equipped car, boat or on foot, and they have the authority to arrest, and issue citations for crimes and violations.
This classification is primarily distinguished from a Deputy Sheriff by two characteristics. Reserve Deputy Sheriff is not a paid position and the Reserve Deputy is limited to a supportive role in the sheriffs Office unless special circumstances exist.
