www.BikeCollective.org The Milwaukee Bicycle Collective (MBC) is looking for volunteers with experience or skills in working with inner-city youth ages 6 to 16. Some mechanic skills are a plus, but not necessary. The MBC is a community-oriented bike shop that teaches youth of the Merrill Park neighborhood the values of volunteerism and "sweat equity". Through participation in our programs, area youth are able to earn a bike of their choosing by volunteering and learning basic mechanic skills. The goals of our program include building mechanic and bike maintenance knowledge in the community, encouraging ridership in low-income communities with poor access to transportation, and providing a safe and sound drop-in spot for youth and teens.
