Associate Research ScientistJackson Laboratory - Bar Harbor, METhere is a position available for an Associate Research Scientist position in Dr. Ken Paigen's lab group to study the control of mammalian meiotic recombination events, including the regulatory mechanisms controlling the location and activity of recombination hotspots. We have recently discovered a novel genetic system controlling the activation and suppression of recombination at specific families of hotspots (Parvanov et al., PLoS Biol 7: e36 2009). The first of these regulatory genes has now been identified as a DNA binding protein with chromatin modifying activity; others are being mapped and cloned now.
