The primary area to be served is Red River Parish, with a population of approximately 9,400 residents. The parish has four public schools and three private schools with fourteen 4-H clubs, and over 500 4-H members with a potential audience of 1300 youth. The goals of the 4-H Youth Development Program include increasing youth leadership development and community service learning; strengthening the partnership between 4-H and formal education; and expanding volunteer involvement to increase contact hours per youth. Agriculture commodities in the parish include forestry, horticulture, soybeans, feed grains, horses, and beef cattle.
