Tutor/Mentor ProgramWright To Read - Alexandria, VAThe Tutor/Mentor Program is Wright to Read?s flagship program. The Tutor/Mentor Program offers one-on-one tutoring and mentoring of an elementary school student who is reading below grade level and will benefit from additional work with a supportive, committed adult. Students are referred by Alexandria City Public Schools teachers. The Tutor/Mentor Program offers flexible scheduling as volunteers schedule sessions with the student?s parent. Tutoring sessions take place in usually in the public library for one hour each week. Volunteers undergo a criminal background screening and have a small group training session. Also, throughout the year, Wright to Read offers workshops on a variety of topics and enrichment activities including Reads Take the Stage, book groups and field trips.
