The assistant chief of bureau works with the chief of bureau to lead business development and manage AP's relationship with 68 newspaper members in Illinois, working also with broadcast members across the state. This individual assists the chief and works with regional and local news and photo managers to establish and execute goals for improving news on all platforms, producing revenue and preserving the AP's strong relationships with its members. He or she works with news to manage reporting resources and bureaus and to develop and evaluate staff in Chicago, Springfield, Ill., and a southern Illinois correspondence.
