Telecommunications Specialists Download DSP Civilian Application Here! One large component of civilian positions is the telecommunications field. Telecommunications Specialists in our Communications Section work in the Public Safety Answering Points (911 centers and HQ Communications). They perform duties of answering emergency calls, relaying information to uniformed officers via computers, twoway radios, telephones, and ensuring accurate communications with other agency emergency responders. The telecommunications specialists require working a rotating shift, weekends, and holidays. There are PSAP's in all three counties.
