Founded September 2010 by successful entrepreneurs and industry veterans, working in close partnership with one of the worlds largest global telephony providers, our client is a Mountain View, CA Communications startup building the next-generation Cloud-based Unified Communications (CBUC) platform for the consumer and SME markets.
Creates cloud based unified communications platform for mostly telecommunication companies and for consumers. The platform is on focus on Telcos to create an Amazon like model for Telco infrastructure. Currently they have 23 full-time employees, mostly engineers.
Our clients CBUC platform will deliver both real-time communication services such as instant messaging, presence and location-based services, telephony, video, call control and more, as well as non-real-time communication services such as integrated voicemail, e-mail, SMS and fax all via the Cloud, accessible to you via web or mobile application. They are focused on applications : Application is on Android & iPhone mobile Apps/Biz Apps for products sold by their partners.
When they launch their platform, clients will be able to simply sign up for the companys online or at one of their thousands of retail locations, and get instant access to intuitively easy-to-use services. No hardware to buy or install onsite, no intensive multi-day configuration, and no waiting. If youre one of our partners' 150 million mobile subscribers, their services will be available as an option on customers current plan.
The company is in stealth mode and cannot reveal their IP, but when people find out what they are doing they are very eager to join.
Operations Group: There are 2 people in the group currently. They are responsible for management and maintenance of cloud services, external operations (24x7) for both consumer, business products and all applications.
Platform Group: There are 5 people in the team now. This group is responsible for creating cloud based services and core infrastructure developed in Java.
Application Group: There are 5-6 people in this group with some contractors. They are responsible for all front end applications for all products as well as device software (for iPhone and Android).
Voice and Video Group: currently staffed.
QA Group currently staffed.
Title: UI/UX Designer
Reports to Applications Group Led by Apps Mgr: Looking for a Junior OR a not too Senior candidate; and visual designers are ok
User-center designs both Consumer & Business base
No real applications development involved
A strong portfolio of prior work demonstrating great user-centered design and experience for web based and smart phone applications
Fluency in best practices for web-based design, usability principles and design techniques
Ability to work directly with technical teams to gather requirements and present design solutions
Prior experience working in a fast paced, dynamic environment
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Familiarity with Product Life Cycle and Agile development methodologies
1+ years of experience as a user experience designer or interaction designer specializing in web based application interfaces
2+ years of experience as a user experience designer or interaction designer for Android and iPhone applications
Prior experience designing user interfaces that solve complex tasks and business needs with efficient and innovative user experiences
Prior design work involving user interfaces that support re-skinning and re-branding
Prior experience conducting user research and usability testing
