Serves as the daily off- site trips counselor. With guidance from the Adventure Director, plans daily half or full day trips out of camp. Leading girls in a wilderness environment and ensuring their safety at all times.

Key Responsibilities in Activity Area

  • Lead campers in off-site trips

  • Facilitate girls through the Adventure Course, both high and low

  • Work with Adventure Leaders to develop activities utilizing Adventure Course

  • Lead assigned trips for the assigned time frame while creating a fun, inspiring, and positive environment.

  • Assist in inventory procedures at the opening and close of camp.

  • Submit a written evaluation of camp to the Camp Director and Camp Administrator at the end of the camp season.

  • Ensures ropes logs and equipment are checked daily and replaced as needed

  • Perform other duties as assigned

    Key Responsibilities in Village

  • Teach camping skills and appreciation of the out-of-doors to campers.

  • Assist in planning and carrying out of experiences in the unit with the help of unit staff and through use of girl planning.

  • Work together with other members of the unit to delegate responsibilities and complete all tasks at hand.

  • Assist in supervising the unit with housekeeping, sanitation, care of supplies, and equipment.

  • Help to coordinate and successfully implement group living for the unit.

  • Assume responsibility for the health and safety of the campers in the unit by: maintaining a well-equipped first aid kit, checking with the health supervisor about supplies for out-of-camp trips, reporting accidents promptly, and keeping the health supervisor informed of the health status of campers and unit staff.

  • Help to keep written records and make formal reports as required for session evaluations, trip reports, unit's daily first-aid log book, and any other reports requested by the Camp Director.

  • Perform other duties as assigned



Requirements:
  • Minimum 20 years of age or high school graduate.
  • Ability to assist teaching at activities.
  • Desire and ability to work with children in an outdoor setting.
  • Experience in outdoor recreational activities such as canoeing, hiking and geocaching.
  • Ability to live and work in the out-of-doors.
  • Current or willing to get Lifeguard, CPR and First Aid certifications.
  • Ability to assist campers in an emergency (fire, evacuation, illness, injury).
  • Strength and endurance to maintain constant supervision of campers.
  • Ability to accept guidance and supervision.
  • Visual and auditory ability to identify and respond to environmental and other hazards.
  • Ability to observe camper behavior assesses its appropriateness, enforces safety regulations and emergency procedures, and applies appropriate behavior management techniques.
  • Enthusiasm, good sense of humor, patience, and self-control.
  • Ability to lift at least 20 lbs.
  • Willingness to work at multiple locations throughout summer season.
  • Ability to model behavior consistent with the Principles of Inclusiveness and Girl Scout Mission, Promise, Values and Law.
  • Ability to ensure that campers have fun in a safe environment.
  • Possess knowledge of group living skills, and good communication skills.
  • Ability to work as a team player.
  • Must be able to pass required background checks.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule.
