Kaiser Permanente Information Technology has a rare opening for an Area Information Officer in the Diablo IT Service Area. This position works under the Executive Director for Northern California IT Service and Delivery and works directly in partnership with Physician Leadership in the service area.

The AIO role Includes organizational leadership, business process, resource, and financial management, information security, sponsorship and promotion of collaborative effectiveness. AIO manages the information technology strategies and operations in a localized environment. This can include hospitals and Medical Office Buildings in a particular geographic area. Delivers all phases of IT Projects including design, prioritization, staffing, development, implementation, analysis, metrics and reporting. Functions as an expert authority on IT issues to physicians and other staff regarding IT strategies, operations and solutions. The AIO also coordinates technology management with Clinical Technology, Site Support and PACTS administrator. To manage the IT operations effectively, the AIO aligns operations strategies, drives standardization, addresses IT issues and delivers local regional and national IT projects to the service area.

The AIO is also responsible for providing leadership and direction to employees in the location. Typically, this includes a Project Management staff and Business Consultants. This work requires an expertise in communication skills, management and leadership concepts plus a solid base of technology and business knowledge and the ability to apply it to business problems.

Responsibilities include but may not be limited to:

· The AIO works with the Regional and Hospital Executive Leadership to understand business strategies and priorities and translate them into potential solutions across the region that deliver the greatest business value.

· Communicates clear IT strategies linked to business priorities.

· Develops, manages and monitors all aspects of IT within a service area.

· Within IT, represents the Medical Center's operational needs to Enterprise Architecture, Infrastructure Management, Information Management, Information Security and the national portfolios.

· Accountable for planning, monitoring and achieving negotiated performance expectations and resolving any IT issues negatively impacting the Medical Center, especially patient care.

· Serve as a trusted advisor to business leadership.

· Develops and maintains strategic relationships.

· Build strong teams and trusted internal IT relationships on local and national level.

· Works on issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth knowledge of organizational objectives.

· Implements strategies and policies when selecting methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results.

· Lead initiatives to support flexibility and agility for rapid change.

· Proactively manage trends to improve performance and mitigates issues throughout the Service Area.

· Leads the management team to establish strategic plans and objectives for their functions; may develop cross-functional oriented objectives.

May also manage contractors, offshore resources and/or matrix employees.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

· Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science or related technical field or 4 years of equivalent work experience.

· Minimum of 5 years of management experience and a minimum of 8 years of related experience in planning, budget/financial management and staffing.

· Minimum of 5 years of related IT experience including IT Project Management.

· Thorough knowledge of a large, complex organization, as well as industry practices.

· Requires advanced knowledge of own area of functional responsibility and working knowledge of multiple related functions.

Preferred Qualifications:

· Master's degree or equivalent experience

· IT experience in a healthcare environment that may include professional services consulting, IT project/program management, or IT operations.
