To manage and oversee daily clinical, administrative and human resource activities for the designated clinical area(s). Participates in, coordinates and ensures the delivery of high quality, developmentally appropriate patient and family centered care at the unit level.

Identifies, facilitates and participates in Performance Improvement projects that enhance and ensure safe patient care delivery systems as measured by improved and sustained outcomes and compliance with policies and procedures. Commits to the on-going development of self, unit leadership team and staff to achieve professional goals. Completes timely performance management reviews for direct reports.

· Assures that new staff attends hospital orientation within 30 days of employment.

· Assures that new staff attends departmental orientation within 30 days of employment.

· Reports financial performance on a monthly basis.

· Develops and modifies job descriptions as necessary.

· Prepares and submits annual capital and operating budgets.

· Conducts appropriate investigations and follows-up on individual and patient complaints.

· Submits performance planning documents, ongoing planning materials, action plan and department goals.

· Strives to achieve the goal of Joint Commission accreditation through the following:

· Ensuring that Joint Commission requirements specific to your department are fulfilled but also understand the linkage between your department’s requirements and those of the Integrated Delivery System.

Collaborating with colleagues in other departments to ensure all Joint Commission requirements are met.
