Navy Physicians are responsible for meeting the full spectrum of medical needs for military servicemembers – practicing medicine that’s patient-focused, not business-driven. In this role:

* Pursue opportunities not readily available in civilian practice (i.e., work on an aircraft carrier, in the field or in locations around the world)

* Receive potential financial incentives (availability of offer depends on specialty)
* Receive paid training and access to Navy-funded continuing education

Qualifications and Requirements: Candidates must satisfy specific criteria to be eligible for employment consideration.

* U.S. citizenship: Required
* Education: Graduate of a medical school approved by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education or the American Medical Association (AMA); or a graduate of a school of osteopathy approved by the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) [note that foreign medical graduates must have completed a residency program approved by the AMA, be board-certified in a specialty considered critical to the Navy Reserve, and have at least two years of experience following completion of residency – consideration is on a case-by-case basis]
* Licensing: Current license to practice medicine, surgery or osteopathy in the United States – applicants must be currently engaged in clinical practice of the specialty being considered
* Gender: Male or female
* Age: 20 to 64 at the time of appointment (older applicants may be considered on a case-by-case basis, depending upon qualifications and the needs of the Navy Reserve)
* Medical exam: Required
* Physical fitness test: Required
* Service commitment: Minimum of two years
