GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:

Champions performance excellence principles throughout the organization and drives a culture of excellence across all lines of business. Responsible for identifying and facilitating the strategy-aligned prioritization of targeted process improvement projects. Responsible for developing and leading the in-house Lean Six Sigma (LSS) Green Belt training program. Will lead process improvement teams as a Master Black Belt. Responsible for implementing and supporting process management control systems across the organization.

Responsible for developing and leading the in-house Lean Six Sigma (LSS) Green Belt training program. Will lead process improvement teams as a Master Black Belt. Responsible for implementing and supporting process management control systems across the organization.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: Bachelors degree required.
Masters degree preferred.
Education in engineering, math or science field preferred.
Seven years of practitioner experience in Lean Six Sigma and process management control systems within a manufacturing environment including the following: direct project responsibility, team facilitation, training experience, curriculum development, statistical process control, executive communication, and Baldrige examiner.

Certification/License: LSS Black Belt required; LSS Master Black Belt preferred (must present certifying entity, which could include university, non-profit, or in-house corporate program)
Examiner status (state or national Baldrige program)

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:

Knowledge: Must have (and can demonstrate) knowledge of LSS methodologies including process improvement and Process Management. Must have advanced knowledge of PC software applications including Windows, Microsoft (MS) Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Visio, Minitab or other advanced statistical tools software, etc.
Skills: Excellent time management, verbal and written communication, and public speaking skills required. Advanced analytical skills. Ability to lead training programs and cross-functional teams. Must demonstrate positive leadership skills and have excellent interpersonal skills. Able to demonstrate competency with above computer skills. Must be capable of operating a motor vehicle in all types of weather conditions.

Abilities: Must be professional, self-motivated, organized, and have the ability to work independently. Must be able to acquire, analyze, and present data in an understandable and useful format. Must demonstrate ability to facilitate groups and to guide them through the dynamics of team development. Demonstrate ability to recognize and facilitate resolution of unusual issues encountered in all phases of business processes. Must be able to speak in public and present good leadership skills. Must work well as a team member. Ability to meet time deadlines, manage extensive amounts of complex information, connect and interrelate disparate ideas and thoughts, pay attention to detail, and work effectively with varying constituencies. Must be able to discern and keep appropriate information confidential. Must be neat in appearance and well groomed.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

Essential Functions:

1. Develop, maintain, and ensure continual improvement of the organization's business excellence methodologies (tools, templates, methods, etc.).
2. Identify and facilitate the strategy-aligned prioritization of targeted process improvement projects.
3. Lead multiple complex process improvement projects simultaneously as Master Black Belt.
4. Implement and support Process Management Control Systems across the organization (process mapping, process metric identification, reporting set-up).
5. Lead the in-house LSS Green Belt Training program and teams, including all curriculum development.
6. Develop and lead various types of performance excellence related training for all levels of the organization.
7. Perform other performance excellence related consulting and facilitation throughout the organization (advice for organizational design, change management, Baldrige criteria).
8. Perform feasibility and cost/benefit analysis for LSS projects.
9. Assist in leading any organization certification activities such as Baldrige and ISO 9001.2008.
10. Focus on creating a culture of excellence across the entire organization.
11. Provide ongoing coaching and mentoring to process improvement trainees on proper use of tools and improvement processes such as Value Stream Maps, Six-Sigma, Lean, Design excellence, Theory of Constraints, and operations excellence.
Display positive leadership skills with staff by committing to and embracing the mission, vision, and core values.
13. Direct departmental efforts for ISO 9000.
14. Participate in annual department budget preparation.
15. Perform ongoing coordination with client organizations.
16. Interview and make recommendations for hiring, terminating, promoting, demoting, orienting, evaluating, counseling, and salary changes for departmental personnel.
17. Attend meetings, seminars, and other events as required.
18. Maintain a close working relationship with management of all departments.
19. May perform other tasks as assigned.

Nonessential Functions:
Provide assistance to other departments as needed.

TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Will sit, stand, walk, and bend during working hours. Requires to lift and carry relatively light materials. Requires manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination. Requires normal or corrected vision and hearing to normal range. Must be able to drive on behalf of the organization.
TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS: Works in a well lighted, air conditioned, and heated office. May be exposed to electrical and chemical hazards and other conditions common to an office environment. Ability to use personal motor vehicle for company business as required. May be required to travel nationally. Occasional overnight stays required. May be required to work at any time of the day, evening, or night during the week or weekend to include being on-call. Will work extended hours during peak periods.
