Recommends and generates reporting and analytical tools required to analyze and direct customer specific category management and trade development initiatives. Researches trends, interprets market data, and assesses the implications/potential of given market conditions. Generally responsible for the overall analytical support of sales, replenishment, planograms, and efficiency and compliance activities within assigned account(s).

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Conducts market research using a variety of syndicated and custom tools such as but not limited to trend analysis for geographic markets, distribution channels, accounts, brands, and suppliers as well as customer specific point of sale data as a means of supporting and making recommendations in the direction of the assigned retailer’s business in support of the category plan.

2. Structures and interprets data (i.e. scan, census, point of sale information) for targeted use by chain sales, trade development, branch management, and executive leadership. Assesses economic and market conditions, estimates sales potential, and identifies retailer/brand opportunities.

3. Performs as a member of the Glazer Trade Development Team to develop strategic data modeling tools and databases. Supports and participates in the development of business recommendations for product assortments, placements, layouts as well as supporting overall performance analysis of pricing and promotional activity and efficiency initiatives.

4. Provides the analytical reporting tools to assist in the collection and analyzing of market data to evaluate supplier portfolios in the marketplace to include sales, pricing, distribution, merchandising, and other programming tools. Assists in the development of both short and long term business plans both as they relate specifically to the retail account and suppliers as directed by the Team Lead.

5. Supports the development and deployment of modular/plan-o-gram design and evaluation using approved space management software as appropriate for the assigned account. Demonstrates software proficiency and makes recommendations to assigned retail accounts in terms of department layouts and rule development to drive consistency across the retailer’s enterprise.

6. Manages and supports the development and maintenance of numerous databases for use within space management and proprietary software.

7. Introduces market research tools, technology, consumer research and local market data to the assigned account to support selling efforts both at the corporate level and in the field. Trains users on software and data analysis techniques, guides fact based decision-making training to ensure decision support for both the field and corporate selling teams.

8. Provides customized analysis on an ad hoc basis. Develops the market research, data analysis, and interprets market measures for use in presentations to retailers, suppliers, and related parties.

9. Perform trend analyses in the development of account specific supplier volume forecasts. Activity to include forecast development, gathering/interpreting market intelligence, reporting and tracking.

Qualifications

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s degree in business administration, marketing, market research, statistics or the equivalent thereof in related experience. Advanced degree such as an MBA, considered a plus.

• Strong background (minimum of 3-5 years of experience) in Category Management with strong Analytical and Space Planning skills. Specifically require background in the collection, analysis, and interpretation of syndicated data.

• Prior use of syndicated data (IRI/Nielsen), Spectra, Household Panel data, and Space Planning tools.

• Prior experience in the liquor, food, or grocery wholesale/distribution business considered valuable.

• Physically able to move/lift 30-40 pound cases.

• Travel expectations of 10% - 20% with advance notice.
