Director, Agile Project Management - Software Development (3MEDEDJ1)
Location: Lake Forest, CA

This role does not provide relocation assistance. Candidates that live outside of the Lake Forest/Orange County area must be able to relocate local to the area at their own expense.

This individual will be leading a team of Agile Project Managers that participate in the planning, execution and delivery of industrial automation software releases using an Agile/Lean methodology. This individual will lead in the development, definition and deployment of standard processes, best practices and process improvements across the software organization. In addition, this individual will need to select, develop, and evaluate personnel to ensure the efficient operation of this function. This position reports into the Vice President of Research and Development for the Schneider Electric-Invensys Software Business

RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Lead the transformation of traditional project management roles to an Agile/Lean paradigm
• Drive consistency in Agile development practices & processes across the development organization
• Develop, document and evangelize Agile best practices used by product development teams
• Direct line management of the Agile Project Management team and their individual assignments
• Proactively seek ways to improve development productivity and efficiency through process improvement and more productive using metrics to gauge progress.
• Provide guidance and mentor team members on a weekly basis.
• Ensuring the timely delivery of high-quality software products within budget constraints through direct support of software product development teams
• Ensure key operational metrics around quality, cost & delivery are accurate, collected, analyzed & reported
• Develop and execute quantitative rating system for Agile Project Management team
• Collaborate with other functions to support overall group business requirements;
• Receives assignments in the form of objectives and determines how to use resources to meet schedules and goals. Provides guidance to subordinates within the latitude of established company policies. Recommends changes to policies and establishes procedures that affect the immediate organization.
• Develop a sufficient level of technical product knowledge to provide highly-credible leadership to development teams and to be able to accurately and objectively evaluate complex project risks and issues

JOB COMPLEXITY
• Works on complex issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth knowledge of the company. Participates in corporate development of methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for projects, programs, and people. Ensures that budgets and schedules meet corporate requirements.
Acts as advisor to subordinates to meet schedules and/or resolve execution problems.

INTERACTION
• Regularly interacts with executives and/or major customers. Interactions frequently involve special skills, such as negotiating with customers or management or attempting to influence senior level leaders regarding matters of significance to the organization.
• Ability to provide leadership to business analysts and collaborate with customers and develop strategies and solutions of high business value

SUPERVISION
• Directs and controls the activities of a broad functional area through several department managers within the company. Has overall control of planning, staffing, budgeting, managing expense priorities, and recommending and implementing changes to methods.

Qualifications

REQUIREMENTS
• Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Engineering or Computer Science
• A minimum of ten years of progressive leadership experience
• A minimum 5-7 years of experience in a traditional Project Management role
• A minimum 3 years of experience in an Agile execution environment
• Excellent written and verbal communications skills are required.
• Industrial Automation domain knowledge is highly desirable, in-depth knowledge of core Schneider Electric-Invensys software products is also desirable
• Training and certification from one or more of the following:
• PMI-PMP: Project Management Institute – Project Management Professional
• Scrum Alliance – CSM: Certified Scrum Master
• Scaled Agile Academy – SAFe (SP or SA): Scaled Agile Framework (Agilist or Practitioner)

DESIRABLE SKILLS
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Windows platforms and technologies
• Previous experience delivering projects which are outsourced a plus
• Experience designing and shipping shrink wrapped software applications preferred.
• Strong interpersonal skills including mentoring, coaching, collaborating, and team building
• Strong analytical, planning, and organizational skills with an ability to manage competing demands
• Creative approach to problem-solving with the ability to focus on details while maintaining the “big picture” view
