Job Description
Be a key IT product executive for Platts and provide guidance to the Marketing/Sales executive and team on what is possible with technology and build productive, value-generating relationships with the product team(s). You will lead IT management of critical applications and services: Platts.com, Sales support systems, Eloqua, and UI standards/branding.

As our Director of Marketing/Sales Systems provide leadership for technology product(s) direction setting, innovation, and all stages of the software development and maintenance lifecycle. This includes responsibility and oversight for the design, specification, ongoing maintenance and roadmap for these products.

Under the leadership of Platts CIO you will work with business teams, set direction, prioritize activities, and drive the activities to execute on product-related projects. Work with architects to define and adapt architectures to the product portfolio, with the responsibility to ensure applications follow technical and business vision, meet requirements, adhere to standards and are designed for performance, flexibility, and scalability.

Responsibilities:

* Provides the key contact with the Platts Marketing/Sales executive to manage and evolve the systems portfolio to meet business needs. This includes participating in strategic planning processes, defining a technical product strategy, working with the leadership team in prioritizing initiatives based on sound business evaluations cost/benefit analysis. Represents Marketing/Sales products at the Platts steering committees, Platts executive meetings, and the TDC.

* Provides leadership, direction and mentoring to Marketing/Sales technology teams in the delivery of technology products and services. This includes leading and coordinating activities throughout the application product development lifecycle. Ensures that standard development processes and technologies are used in the design, construction and implementation of applications and shared services. Sets direction and implements the appropriate use of standard models and software packages, standard methods of integration, as well as the development of common application services.

* Develops and monitors individual objectives, and leads the team. Develops and maintains quality staff by hiring skilled personnel; developing succession plans; providing training opportunities, evaluating and managing performance, delegating responsibility; training and mentoring junior staff, and administering corporate policies. Develops, monitors, and controls (with the finance team) the unit's BAU and initiative budgets and is responsible for implementing efficiencies and best practices for the team. Represents the unit for the implementation of policies and programs.

* Innovative leadership to support new businesses

* Leads, participates and represents department in meetings and facilitates cross-functional teams

* Leads with the appropriate stakeholders the negotiation of technology contracts: SLAs, SOWs, RFIs RFPs

* Advocates for change and develops effective change strategies

* Mentors technical staff in understanding the business

* Participates in POCs for next horizon technologies, focusing on innovative solutions

* Manages the development of the project budget and financial monitoring process

* Makes effective mid-course corrections and ensures adherence to the change management process

Qualifications

* 8 years experience in application development

* 2 programming languages/technology environments

* 3 years in sales/marketing systems

* Expert in supporting all application development tasks in the software engineering process

* Expert in providing application consulting and communicating technology direction

* Expert in supporting data design activities, particularly bridging application interfaces with data

* Expert in conducting application design and code reviews

* Expert in evaluating technologies

* Expert in leading task forces for application design and development activities

* Superior communication skills in communicating technology direction for all levels of management

* Expert in estimating systems initiatives

* Demonstrates leadership in building relationships with business partners and/or clients

* Advanced business and technical knowledge which is applied to business solutions

* Experience aligning application systems design with the business need, articulates trade-offs and options

* Local, regional, and global perspective

* Superior communication and collaboration skills with business and technical staff to meet tight deadlines and quality targets

* Masters degree, bachelors degree or equivalent work experience or certification
