Job Description: The Director, Strategic Business Development, Smart Homes and Buildings is chartered with developing the division-level business strategy and building strong business relationships with key third parties to help form and deliver differentiated and compelling Internet of Things (IoT) solutions for smart homes and buildings. Solution designs will range from supporting standard Intel Architecture microprocessors, to spanning the breadth of Intel's product and services portfolio, to aligning with thought-leading ecosystem partners to develop integrated end-to-end solutions.

This is a new IoT sector for Intel and this leadership role will be a part of the new Smart Homes and Buildings division, reporting to the Vice President and General Manager. The primary responsibilities of the role will include:
- Accelerating strategies and growing markets by developing business relationships with third parties to complete business unit platform/product portfolios and accomplish business unit strategic objectives.
- Driving complex business transactions from deal conception and negotiations to contract closure with companies that positively and significantly impact the business bottom line and/or competitive position.
- Establishing deal structures and business models comprehending intellectual property concerns, licensing scope, statements of work, go to market strategies, etc. as appropriate for the business.
- Working with Intel Capital (ICAP) colleagues to proactively utilize equity tools for M&A and provide business agreement support for venture investments.
- Leading or contributing to business strategy development or other strategic projects as appropriate.

Qualifications
- 10+ years of business development experience in the digital home and/or digital media space. Deep knowledge of the service provider/consumer electronics sectors required; knowledge of advertising/content economics preferred.
- 3+ years in investment banking or consulting with a specific focus on digital home and/or digital media.
- Strong understanding of major home and building technology sectors (set top box/cable, video services, home services) required. Understanding of small and medium-sized preferred.
- Strong understanding of hardware, software, services and solutions business models.
- Strong relationship/selling, communications, and program management skills.
- Outstanding deal closing skills.
- Ability to synthesize and abstract complex information into clear messages.
- Strong business sense and savvy to assess the value of a particular agreement.
- Experience with influencing and collaborating a wide range of internal partner organizations, such as the PC Client Group (PCCG), Software & Services Group (SSG), New Devices Group (NDG), Mobile Computing Group (MCG), McAfee/Intel Security, Wind River Systems, and Platform Engineering Group (PEG).
- Track record as an intrapreneur; comfortable working in a start-up division within a large company.
- Minimum BS Marketing or Engineering, MBA preferred.
