This position will reside in Houston, TX.  Relocation funds are available.

Summary:

The Division Vice President, Managed Care is responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating all managed care operations and initiatives for Kindred Healthcare service lines within the assigned region and markets, which includes Long Term Acute Care Hospitals, Inpatient Rehab Facilities, Skilled Nursing Facilities, Home Health and Hospice.  This individual will develop and implement strategy, short and long term goals, objectives and action plans with the intended outcome of directly contributing to the revenue and earnings growth objectives at Kindred Healthcare

Essential Functions:

* Serves as the chief liaison between Kindred Healthcare and third party payers in the Region and assigned Markets
* Works closely with the senior staff in developing comprehensive business plans as well as quarterly and annual revenue forecasts designed to meet and exceed the revenue and earnings objectives of the company.
* Work collaboratively with Kindred Healthcare operations leadership to develop an ongoing strategic plan to serve as the basis for managed care contracting efforts that help Kindred achieve its business objectives.
* Effective manage a portfolio of Managed Care contracts and associated revenue to meet/exceed Company business objectives
* Identifies and prioritizes Managed Care growth opportunities target Managed Care Organizations by researching and evaluating the market, competitive environment, contract profitability, and other applicable factors in order to increase market share, maximize profitable revenues, and meet or exceed overall business goals and objectives.
* The ability to develop, test and implement value-based Managed Care contracts and associated reimbursement methodologies (“non-FFS”)
* Effectively implement processes and communication for decision-making to include active involvement of the Regional and market management teams; provide leadership through consensus building.
* Participates in the development of specific programs that meet the expectations and requirements of the payor community.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

* Ability to apply knowledge of post-acute care, medical terminology and payor reimbursement methodologies including managed care requirements and strategies, to effective and rewarding managed care relationship.
* Thorough understanding of traditional Managed Care contracting, including contract language, various fee-for-service reimbursement methodologies, etc.
* Working knowledge and experience with value-based managed care contracting and reimbursement methodologies (e.g. bundled payment, shared risk, contact capitation, etc.) is preferred
* Strong organizational skills, self-motivated, and results oriented.
* Excellent oral and written communication, presentation and interpersonal skills.
* Ability to work under stress with multiple priorities and deadlines.
* Ability to achieve financial and business objectives is critical.
* Ability to directly conduct negotiations.
* Ability to engage in sophisticated financial analysis, forecasting, modeling, etc.
* Ability to travel as necessary.

Qualifications

* Bachelor's degree in business or related field required; Master's degree preferred.
* 10+ years healthcare experience, including at least eight years' experience of applicable managed care experience.
* 6+ years experience in managed care contracting required.  Knowledge of Post Acute Industry preferred.
* Experience working in management level positions with both the Managed Care Organizations (i.e. payer) and Healthcare provider (e.g. large hospital systems, post-acute care providers, large multi-specialty physician groups, etc.) is ideal.
