The IT PMO Director will also mentor and coach a team of project managers to build a highly effective and high performing team. This is a top-level staff position that must have comprehensive knowledge and status of all IT projects and resources at all times. This position will understand and advise on cross dependencies between projects, resource constraints and availability, and the business impact. The IT PMO Director must effectively present and communicate to C-level management. In addition, the IT PMO Director will be responsible for ensuring global project reporting requirements are met. This person is seen as the go-to person for information on all projects in the project pipeline. Significant experience with both Waterfall and Agile project management methodologies is essential. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Transformation Drive our transformation strategy and hold peers accountable to the vision Demonstrate forward thinking regarding management of the PMO in regards to digitalization (Cloud, Mobility, Data analytics, etc.). Business Strategy Understand business strategy Track the IT project portfolio with a view to ensuring it supports the business strategy Processes Standards Assess current state of the IT PMO that is in place Identify gaps in the current PMO and project management methodologies Implement improvements to PMO processes, including resource management, reporting, demand management, etc. Work with the Global PMO team to implement Global standards Ensure appropriate formal project management methodology, including project plans, consistent status updates, and implementation of best practices Ensure a suitable Project Portfolio Management (PPM) tool is implemented and maintained Develop and manage a governance framework that optimizes a bi-modal (two speeds) approach to IT delivery Portfolio Management Oversee the portfolio of projects and identify resource constraints, cross-dependencies, risks issues, etc. Manage all aspects of project delivery from discovery through delivery implementation Ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget Maintain and publish lessons learned after each project Directly manage one or two projects in the portfolio Manage risk exposure across multiple projects Resource modeling ndash Effectively manage and report on resource utilization and availability People Management Manage the team of Project Managers and ensure they are adhering to agreed standards and processes Mentor and coach project managers to develop their potential to result in the build of a high performing team Work with the development teams to improve their delivery practices Stakeholder Management Chair the Project Review Board Ensure business sponsor approval is received for every project before commencement Develop and manage effective reporting to project sponsors and stakeholders Foster strong relationships with the local and global business and IT stakeholders to drive ideas to reality Effectively communicate with C-Level management about their IT investments in IT effort. Financial Management Develop and manage the annual budgeting process Manage and drive the budget Track and report on the financial health of the entire portfolio of projects and IT resources Knowledge, Skills Abilities 7-10 years' experience in direct IT project management, including all aspects of project development and delivery implementation 5 plus years of knowledge of Investment Industry ndash (Buy-Side, Mutual fund, Institutional) Experience in transforming a PMO Experience in delivering projects in regards to digital technology (cloud, mobility, data analytics, etc.) Background in any of software development, architecture, testing, andor business analysis Demonstrated experience with complex SDLC methodologies Demonstrated strong proficiency in Agile (Scrum, etc.) project management Strong proficiency in other Project Management Methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma, etchellip) Demonstrated ability to drive desired outcomes Ability to define business requestsissues, then identify strategies for resolution Proven track record in successfully delivering large projects in both local and global perimeters Ability to drive multiple teams in a priority changing, high pressure environment Effective ability to drive project related risks and issues to resolution. Self-motivated and able to demonstrate the ability to be focused and results oriented. Exemplary written and oral communication skills, including meeting and workshop facilitation experience Highly effective in communicating with C-Level management Strong proficiency with project management software, (Microsoft Project, JIRA, etc.) to provide visibility to all levels of management and stakeholders PMP Certification is a plus B.S in Computer Science or equivalent work experience Project Management, PMP, Investment Banking, PM Methodologies, SDLC, Global Experience
