WAVE, a Worthington/Armstrong Venture, has a job opportunity for a Global Quality Assurance Manager in Aberdeen, MD. The customer s needs are understood by the Global Quality Assurance Manager & communicated throughout the organization. Process measurement and control systems are developed, implemented and maintained for all production processes to meet their needs under guidance from the Quality Assurance Manager. The Global Quality Assurance Manager will develop, teach, and measure employee quality training. Vendor and supplier quality systems will be analyzed and updated to meet WAVE standards.

Key Responsibilities of the Global Quality Assurance Manager:


* Supports the company s 8-step safety process and demonstrates leadership to promote a safe working environment

* Develop, implement and maintain a process measurement and control system (Infinity) for all production processes on a world-wide basis. This includes managing supplier quality systems for key WAVE suppliers


* Process, product & raw material specifications

* Critical product characteristic testing. (including packaging)

* Capability assessments

* Instrument calibration

* Claims and complaint contact for Aberdeen plant; provide resource support and guidance to all facilities as needed or required.

* Validate quality system effectiveness through direct customer contacts

* Use statistical methods and other appropriate techniques to evaluate process capability, define improvement, and monitor process outputs (OOS, ROOS, LOOS)

* Functional expert on SPC and key plant trainer for all WAVE locations

* Maintain inspection system including gage calibration and certification. Conduct regular GR&R and employee gage training updates.

* Lead internal and external quality reviews (global)

* Ensure compliance with governmental, regulatory, safety and environmental agencies including, but not limited to UL, ICC, ASTM, etc To include finished goods, testing equipment, processes, and services

* Facilitate and lead complex projects focusing on integrated manufacturing, logistics, process development, JIT/continuous flow manufacturing, process ...

* Lead and manage continuous improvement initiatives, utilizing PLC-based process monitoring systems to monitor and troubleshoot manufacturing processes

* Establish clear quality standards for all of WAVE s products

* Experience with software including: Infinity Quality Management System, COGNOs/ADC, SAP, WMS, and BPCS.

* Lead and manage Quality Systems globally using Infinity SPC application. Lead improvements based on Statistical Process Control information from Infinity.

* Act as a resource for NPD teams to introduce new products on time & within budget

* Some travel, including international, is required.

Organizational Relationships of the Global Quality Assurance Manager:


* Reports to the Director of Manufacturing Support

* Receive guidance from the Vice-President of Operations

* Works closely with General Managers, Customer Service, Engineering and R&D

Key Customers & Suppliers of the Global Quality Assurance Manager:

External

* WAVE/Armstrong Customers (Distributors, Contractors, Building Owners, Specifiers, Architects)

* Raw Material and Equipment suppliers.

* Suppliers of Vended products.

Internal

* WAVE/Armstrong Sales and Marketing

* Plant Staff, Production Management, Maintenance, Setup & Central Tooling

* WAVE Corporate Engineering
Measures of Effectiveness for the Global Quality Assurance Manager:

* Safety Performance: OSHA recordable, lost time injuries

* Quality Performance: part out of spec (OOS), rollform out of spec (ROOS), & load out of spec (LOOS)

* Customer Satisfaction: Claims, complaints, MIPs & survey results

* Environmental Performance: Measured through governmental and internal audits

* Process Effectiveness: Line speed, yield, plant scrap, output per day

* Financial Performance: Direct costs, period costs, maintenance costs, claims dollars

* Timely introduction of new products meeting customer expectations

Required Qualifications for the Global Quality Assurance Manager:


* Bachelors degree

* 3-5 years experience in quality assurance

* Statistical Analysis

* 6 Sigma

* TQM

Desired Qualifications for the Global Quality Assurance Manager:


* Masters degree (Engineering or Business degrees)

* Process Improvement experience
