**Position Summary**:
*The outpatient therapist/addictions counselor is responsible for providing mental health and/or addiction treatment services (individual, family, and group therapy) within the scope of their license; and providing consultation services to individuals and organizations in the community. The therapist/addictions counselor is expected to adhere to the ethical principles and guidelines set forth by the organization’s governing his/her profession and to comply with professional guidelines established by the Kansas Behavioral Sciences Regulatory Board and Alcohol and Prevention Services for AAPS-certified counselors.*

**Position Summary**:

**Position Responsibilities**:
?         The therapist is responsible to assist in program development, staff supervision and possess an understanding of the budget for the addictions program.

?         Completes admission assessments and provides mostly addiction related treatment to patients.

?         Provides individual, group and family therapy services.

?         Has an understanding of how addiction services interfaces with other services of the mental health center and the community.

?         Completes all required clinical documentation in an accurate and timely manner.

?         Provides consultation to agencies, businesses, industries, and caregivers in the community.

?         Freely sees clients of all needs and ages. Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.

?         Participates in administrative and interdisciplinary clinical staff meetings.
**Position Relationship**:
?         _Responsible to:_  The Addictions Counselor reports to the Clinical Director for weekly supervision.  Program updates and events are communicated along with administrative changes to be presented and approved.

?         _Workers Supervised: _None.

?         _Interrelationships:_ Maintains effective working relationships with other agencies and referral sources.
**Qualifications**:

?         _Education_: Licensed or immediately eligible for licensure as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Masters Level Psychologist (LMLP), Licensed Clinical Psychotherapist (LCP), Licensed Masters Level Social Worker (LMSW), Licensed Specialist Clinical Social Worker (LSCSW), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), Licensed Clinical Marriage and Family Therapist (LCMFT), in the State of Kansas or State certified as an A/D Counselor with a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree or two years of relevant experience.

* _Training and Experience_: Skilled in working with the mentally ill and dual diagnosis patients. Skilled in substance abuse evaluations and assessment of dual disordered patients.
* _Position Knowledge_: Knowledge of addiction services and how it is part of alcohol and drug abuse services within the state managed care network and the behavioral health care network as a whole. Clinical skills that encompass dual diagnosis treatment, addiction treatment in individual, group, family and marital modalities.
