He/she demonstrates skill in developing and guiding collaborative collegial practice that delivers safe competent care based on meticulous application of the nursing process. He/she demonstrates sensitivity and understanding of the diverse cultural backgrounds of patients and caregivers. The position involves maintaining current knowledge of evidence based nursing practice and the ability to demonstrate critical thinking skills in the implementation of all phases of the nursing process. He/she actively participates in patient care quality and performance improvement through data collections, aggregation and analysis of relevant key indicators of quality (KIQ's). This commitment to quality results in the development and implementation of action plans to include the monitoring of the effectiveness of improvements (Hold the Gains). The RN serves as a professional role model as a caregiver, mentor, teacher and resource for peers and other providers. He/she demonstrates competency in the care of (circle all that apply): Neonate, Infant, Child, Adolescent, Adult, Geriatric patient .MSHA expects all team members to support the VOS initiative by demonstrating awareness of the VOS system and effectively applying it to his/her work.Job duties of this position may require access to protected patient information (PHI). The team member will be accountable for appropriate use of the record and compliance with all confidentiality and security policy and procedures related to use, access, and disclosure of PHI.REPORTING RELATIONSHIPReports to the Manager of Staffing Support Services or Chief Nursing Officer/Assistant Administrator. At NSH, the Nursing House Supervisor reports to the Director of Nursing or Chief Nursing Officer and Assistant Administrator. Must be licensed in the appropriate state to practice professional nursing (RN). Baccalaureate degree preferred. Demonstrates knowledge and expertise in chosen nursing area. Must have minimum five years clinical experience, with experience in nursing supervision preferred . Knowledgeable of the current patient care delivery models, patient acuity and the budget for each area and systems. Familiar with disaster procedures demonstrated by taking a written test on Disaster Manual. Must have demonstrated well-developed leadership skills for direct supervision and mentoring new leaders. Proven communication skills. Demonstrates commitment to quality patient care. Understanding of work group training model . Attend management orientation.Must be able to complete job related competencies as deemed necessary to the performance of the RN role in the nursing department of employment.

CONTINUING EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
1. Plans and conducts a minimum of two hours of job related educational programs.2. Obtains 12 hours educational credit.3. Verbalizes understanding of Shared Governance Model and willingly serves on at least one Shared Governance, hospital committee, task force, or project to improve patient care or work area.4. Identifies relevant patient care and/or nursing practice KIQ's (key indicators of quality). This is achieved by using PDCA methodology and the appropriate data collection, aggregation, analysis and trending in the demonstration of measurable improvement outcomes.5. Attends 75% of staff meetings and reads 100% of the minutes of the meetings missed.
