Engineer required to provide technical support related to the analysis of form, fit and function for assigned alternate sourcing solutions submitted. Contractor shall conduct technical reviews of SAR packages and other technical data submitted to establish the approval recommendation or identify all missing data elements. Investigate data systems to collect, correlate, and report statistics and trends on the performance of specific Air Force part numbers/National Stock Numbers (NSNs) Provide site surveys to analyze capability and capacity of potential vendors.
When tasked by the Government the Contractor shall provide written narrative justifications for re-engineering candidates requiring separate CSAG-S/GSD projects
Experienced in Department of Defense and/or FAA Source Approval Requests, Critical Safety Item (CSI) Handbook, Source Approval Management handbook, SAR Package review, Aerospace Manufacturing and Industrial Auditing that can provide recommendations for new source of supply.
Applies knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology. Assists with engineering duties for planning and designing mechanically functioning equipment. Researches, evaluates, and tests mechanical products, equipment, systems and processes. Recommends system components or modification of systems to ensure conformance with engineering design and performance specifications. Reads and interprets blueprints, technical drawings, schematics, manufacturer’s drawings, and computer-generated reports. Assists with the investigation of equipment or system failures and provides recommendations.

- Applicants shall have a minimum of five (5) years engineering experience in the following areas:
o Experience in evaluating /approving aerospace source approval packages
o Experience in applying technical requirements to sourcing characteristics.
o Experience applying engineering source approval policies and procedures for the evaluation of aerospace components (to include propulsion systems) and equipment.
o Must be capable of utilizing the standard Microsoft Office Suite.
- Preferred qualifications:
o Evaluation of source approval packages from manufacturing and repair sources in accordance with the established qualification requirements (Manufacturer Qualification Requirements (MQRs) and Repair Qualification Reports (RQRs)).
o Expertise with the United States Air Force (USAF) or Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) maintenance concepts for propulsion/aerospace component parts.
o Experience in the evaluation or application of Reverse Engineering efforts.
o Experience in locating new sources for manufacture or repair.
o Experience in cross-referencing OEM specification requirements into industrial specifications.
o Specialized knowledge of industry sources, people, capabilities, and resource utilization when normal engineering analysis does not identify a resolution to qualification problem.
o Provide engineering expertise, spanning the range of aerospace parts used by the Aerospace Industry.
o Knowledge and understanding of FAA PMA and DER approval processes.
o Experience with MS Visio and MS Project.
Prior Department of Defense experience preferred. SECRET Clearance preferred.
