JOB TITLE:
SENIOR PACKAGING ENGINEER BASIC FUNCTION Under the direct supervision of the Sr. Director, the incumbent is responsible for the research, development and testing of new and/or revised components (packages) assigned by management. Have overall responsibility for all technical issues; i.e., material resin specifications and product formulation relative to packaging and component submissions and testing. MAJOR DUTIES
1. Develops, tests and approves new and current components with various product formulations.
2. Analyzes component prints; engineers dimensional changes when necessary; specifies suitable component material when required.
3. Develops and updates component specifications, which will ensure procurement and acceptance of proper packaging components.
4. Determines the best materials and construction for each element of a package to ensure proper product protection.
5. Prepares the Q.C.R. (Quality Control Requirement) for all component parts to ensure quality packages.

8. Participates in supplier visits to enhance packaging knowledge and expertise.
9. Attends packaging shows and packaging related seminars on a regular basis to enhance packaging knowledge and expertise.
10. Attends and actively participates in R/D Project Review Category meetings in the Research Center for new product developments.
11. Assists Package Development in solving packaging problems relative to product compatibility, functionality, material resins and dimensions.
12. Researches new plastic resin material and innovative packages and advises management of findings.
13. Assists on production line problems; i.e., quality control of incoming components, functionality and compatibility.
14. Participates in and originates cost savings projects in the corporation.
15. Initiates and conducts open packaging issues meetings on specific assigned brands in R/D on a monthly basis with Package Development engineers and R/D chemists.
16. Generates computer graphs and data for departmental monthly reports.
17. Searches for new or improved methods/equipment in the testing and evaluation of components.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

1. Knowledge of packaging of cosmetics, toiletries and fragrances.
2. Knowledge of component materials (limitations, specifications, uses, costs).
3. Knowledge of product formulation (raw materials, active ingredients).
4. Ability to analyze components for function, fit and mechanical compatibility. Minimum Education Required B S in Engineering or Related Science Degree Minimum Years Experience Required 5-7

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS OF THE POSITION:

1. Analytical ability to recognize component materials that will create compatibility problems with a given product formulation.
2. Mechanical ability to fix and improvise laboratory equipment used for testing components.
3. Ability to react quickly and responsibly to any given crisis relative to components.
4. An appreciation for absolute accuracy. No sponsorship visa (H1-B, etc) candidates at this time, sorry.
