The registered nuclear medicine technologist performs all routine and specialized nuclear examinations, supportive activities as necessary in the daily operations and objectives of Wellmont Health System. He/she must be able to operation all nuclear medicine equipment and other related non-nuclear equipment properly to produce nuclear scans and/or related images. This would include being able to accurately administer radiopharmaceuticals by various IV routes; attach and/or adjust supportive devices to move or restrict patient movement, preventing accidental patient injury; select proper equipment and machine factor(s) as necessary to produce nuclear medicine exams that are consistent with accepted standards; provide radiation protective devices to patients, self and staff in accordance with radiation safety standards. He/she must be able to operation all nuclear medicine equipment and other related non-nuclear equipment properly to produce nuclear scans and/or related images. This person must demonstrate superior patient care, showing compassion and verbally walking them through all the processes so they will understand what is going on. Nuclear Medicine Tech must have clear understanding of handling, documentation and disposal of nuclear medicine related waste and maintain a safe environment at all times.

Must be a graduate of an accredited radiologic tech program with experience requirement to be certified in nuclear medicine modality. Phlebotomy skills are required. IV experience a plus for carrying out all requirements in this role.

Active radiology technologist license with certification in nuclear medicine modality.

BLS is required for any RN, LPN, PCT, Patient Transporter or other direct patient care provider. Emergency Department, Intensive Care Units, PACU, Medical Emergency Team and Anesthesia require ACLS. Pediatrics, SICU, Emergency Department and Medical Emergency Team also require PALS.
