Works with all team members sharing information and supporting efforts to improve outcomes. Minimum of CNA certification or medical terminology required. Able to sit for coding certification in one year. Position is to work autonomously to decide on accurate coding and documentation to support POC.This position may be required to cross train within the agency. Responsibilities in secondary position may require access to medical records and other computer access exceeding routine computer usage. Access to patient information may be necessary to fulfill the requirements of this role; therefore, adherence to MSHA privacy and security policies and practices is a must .MSHA expects all team members to support the VOS initiative by demonstrating awareness of the VOS system and effectively applying it to his/her work.Job duties of this position may require access to protected patient information (PHI). The team member will be accountable for appropriate use of the record and compliance with all confidentiality and security policy and procedures related to use, access, and disclosure of PHI.REPORTING RELATIONSHIPThis position reports to the Audit Supervisor in TN and to agency administrators in VA offices .
Prefer CNA certification or medical terminology. Completion of a secretarial course and knowledge of medical terminology, HH coding, or comparable experience required. Computer skills required, including the ability to teach the Agency computer system to team members. Working knowledge of ICD-9 coding is preferred. Knowledge of Medicare, private insurance, Medicaid, TennCare and other regulatory documentation requirements for coverage of services is preferred. Must successfully complete agency orientation. Must have own dependable transportation. Must carry current personal collision and liability insurance on any vehicle driven. Must maintain current driver's license in the appropriate state. The competency and practice of point of care testing is under the direct supervision of the Laboratory Medical Director and/or designee per regulatory rule #1200-6-3-15 Alternate Site Testing, Section (1) (c), 9 of the Tennessee Medical Laboratory Board Division of Health Related Boards. This practice is a collaborative process with the Laboratory and Nursing leaderships.
