The Department of Modern & classical Languages has potential openings for part time instructors to teach two classes beginning Fall 2012 semester SPA 101 - Introductory Spanish, MWF, from 905 am - 1105 am (two consecutive sections.

Use a communicative approach to the teaching of a foreign language, teaching primarily in the target language with minimal English for clarification of some grammar points.

Prepare daily lesson plans and activities that engage students in their study of beginning Spanish, following closely a syllabus provided by the Department Chair.

Prepare and grade tests, develop a method of grading daily homework, grade two versions of four brief compositions, and evaluate students? daily participation.

Maintain a class record and attendance book.

Be available for students by appointment to help them with any specific problems they might be having with the course material.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Thorough knowledge of subject matter;

Ability to plan and present instructional material in a clear, logical and concise manner;

Ability to maintain proper teacher-student relationship;

Sound professional judgment;

Initiative and resourcefulness;

Master's Degree in area of specialization required.
