An Access Specialist participates in revenue cycle activities to include obtaining and entering accurate patient demographics, insurance verification, charge capture, and collections. The role also includes quality monitoring to ensure clean claim processing. The Access Specialist is integral to the overall customer service to facilitate proper patient flow, greeter functions and conflict resolution. Employee is responsible for creation and maintenance of medical records including filing and record processing.

4. Enters data into system for registration, billing, and patient tracking. Handles this data entry in a fast, efficient way to decrease wait time for customer.
5. Proactively assists with waiting room management to include television/VCR programming, general tidiness, and facility issues (bathroom plumbing, carpet spot cleaning, infection control, toy cleaning, vending machine maintenance).
6. Acts as liaison between patients and department staff by informing patients and families of procedures and delays, answering questions, offering assistance, relaying messages, and othe services that the patients and families may require. Ensures wait time communication occurs by updating schedulers and patient information tools as appropriate.
7. May post, reconcile and balance charges for the department or provide accurate, complete and timely posting data to the off site charge poster.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

* High school diploma or equivalent. College Degree preferred.
* CPAR certified preferred.
* Healthcare experience preferred.
* Basic Windows XP and Microsoft Word XP required. Must pass Windows Basic Skills Competency test with at least 80%.
* Will use a vast array of computer systems, such as RIS, SIS, SMS, Epic, ImsWeb, HDX, Payor websites, CSC Order Indexing, POS Database, GPMS, IBEX, NueMd, Windows,
* Outlook, Passport, etc.
* Demonstrated alpha and numeric data entry proficiency with score of at least 75%.
* Demonstrated arithmetic and word mathematical problem solving skills with score of at least 75%.
* Strong verbal/ written communication skills required.
* Proven ability to multi-task.
* Must have a flexible schedule in order to work different shifts as needed.
* May require travel within Metro Atlanta area as needed.
