Job Summary

The Vice President, Private Equity reports to the Head of Private Equity and plays an integral part in identifying and selecting funds and direct private equity investment opportunities, cultivating relationships with managers, leading investment analysis and due diligence on investments and recommending investment and divestment opportunities to the Private Equity team and to the ZAAM Investment Committee. Additionally, the professional will monitor and report on investment portfolio holdings, lead in preparing analyses and presentations for decision making and reporting purposes. The role includes coaching and supervising project work of more junior team members. The position requires analytical, quantitative, problem-solving and interpersonal skills. The individual must be able to work independently and proactively and have the requisite communication skills, if requested, to represent Zurich on Limited Partner Advisory Boards (for funds) and Board of Directors of portfolio companies (for direct investments).

Job Accountabilities:

1. Work with the Head of PE to source, screen, research and analyze the investment merit of indirect (fund), direct opportunities and secondary asset purchases;
2. Build and cultivate relationships with fund managers and portfolio companies' management.
3. Lead due diligence, complete analyses to support investment theses and assess risk on potential investments as may be agreed with the Head of PE.
4. Lead in extensive referencing of key principals and jointly negotiate legal documents.
5. Prepare comprehensive memoranda for the ZAAM Investment Committee detailing the opportunity, analysis of relevant theses and risks, and recommendation of the ZAAM PE team.
6. Lead in preparing analyses and presentations as requested by the Head of PE.
7. Stay abreast of developments in global private capital in helping set ZAAM PE strategy.
8. Supervise and coach junior investment professionals on the PE deal team.
9. If requested, represent Zurich's interest on Limited Partner Advisory Boards of partnerships or, for direct investment, on the Board of Directors.

Job Qualifications

Bachelors Degree
8 Or More Years Of Related Experience
1. Postgraduate degree in finance, business, law or economics from a reputable institution strongly preferred. Further professional qualifications if only in possession of bachelor degree or if degree in fields not directly related to investments or finance.
2. At least 7-10 years of investing related experience, of which: at least 4 years PE investing experience (fund secondaries, directs and/or fund primaries), in addition to at least 3 years in M&A, corporate finance, asset management, finance law, audit or consulting.

Investments
1. Knowledge gained from formal university (or acceptable institutions such as CFA Institute) training in finance and investments, preferably to post-graduate level.
2. Specialist knowledge of private capital investments, leveraged finance and public equity capital markets and investment structures gained from several years experience in banking, M&A, private equity.

Private Capital
1. In depth knowledge of the asset class: private capital indirect and direct investing from at least 4 years transaction experience.
2. Ability to assess viability and risks in business strategies and models, quality of investees' executive managers.
3. Familiarity with legal framework and main issues related to investment structures in private capital investing.
4. Solid familiarity with valuation methodologies, understanding of accounting issues (incl. investment accounting), frameworks of corporate and securities law, issues of business strategy implementation.
