The scrum Product Owner is responsible for the “what” and thus expressing a clear vision of what he or she wishes to build, and convey that vision to the scrum team. The scrum product owner does this in part through the product backlog, which is a prioritized features list for the product. The scrum product owner's job is to motivate the team with clear goals and direction. Team members know best what they are capable of, and so they select which user stories from the top of the product backlog they can commit to delivering during any sprint. The best product owners show commitment by doing whatever is necessary to build the best product possible – and that means being actively engaged with their teams. A Day In The Life 
- Product Owner Duties? The Product Owner (PO) is responsible for being the liaison between the business and the engineering team. The PO is business savvy enough to meet with Mozido's clients and also end customers to extract the requirements to create something that has business value. The requirements gathering effort may require travel to the client's site but most current POs travel between 3-5 times a year for 1 week at a time. After driving the requirements gathering, the PO articulates the requirements in the form of user stories that are small enough to be consumed by the team. Mozido often adds new services to its portfolio and this will require the PO to be very comfortable with reading API documentation, identifying the relevant details and communicating to the team how the pieces fit together to deliver new functionality. Our preference is for the PO to be highly technical and possibly even an ex-developer that wants to make the jump into product. The PO may be called upon as the subject matter expert to troubleshoot existing issues with the suite of services and work with the engineering team to address the issue. Skills Knowledge 
• Gain expertise on the target user/customer 
• Become knowledgeable of the financial services and consumer engagement domain 
• Learn both at a functional and technical level how Mozido’s products work 
• Get hands dirty with API documentation for Mozido platform and 3rd party platforms/services 
- SOAP, Rest/JSON, ISO 8583, etc. 
• UX and UI design feedback to best utilize and help direct interactions 
• Business and financial know-how of Mozido’s products and review of deal economics Process 
• Assist in customer and client interviewing process to understand and define scope 
• Balance product discovery process with creating a minimum viable product for customers 
• Familiarity with A/B testing to refine products 
• Participant in agile teams (e.g. Scrum and/or Kanban) 
• Build, prune and maintain the backlog of user stories that includes defects and infrastructure work 
• Prioritization of work based on dependencies injected by the team, client and stakeholders 
• Just-in-time elaboration and definition of backlog items with visibility of at least one quarter (3 months) at the epic level = quarterly roadmap Individual 
• Effectively work with a team of developers, QA and designers both locally and distributed across different geographies and time zones 
• Evangelize product to outside groups, clients and internally 
• Manage stakeholders since all will have competing priorities and it’s the job of the Product Owner to lead and make sure everyone’s voice is heard but make tough decisions about the product 
• Participate in the Product Owner community and contribute/knowledge sharing with other 

Product Owners Qualifications Must Have Skills:
• 3 years of experience in a technical requirements role for a software based product 
• 5 years In the software development/product industry 
• Experience in writing product requirements or user stories 
• Technical knowledge of a subset of the following: software technologies (Java, C++, C#), user interface technologies (web, mobile, rich client) , Linux/Windows, database (NoSQL, SQL), Internet/network technologies, information security, high availability/redundancy, hardware platforms, Cloud, virtualization, and SOA 
• Strong negotiation skills with aptitude to manage controversial situations as well as influence 
• Analytical and problem solving skills for design, creation and testing of programs 
• Process-oriented and driven to achieve strategic goals 
• Ability to plan, prioritize, and organize effectively 
• Knowledge of Agile methodologies 

Preferred Skills:
• Previous experience in customer facing function (support, professional services, sales engineering) 
• Previous experience in software engineering role 
• Undergraduate degree in technical field (Computer Science, Information Systems)
