Description

Role and Responsibilities:

1. Plans, manages and facilitates the delivery of instructor led training to a diverse network of field trainers, focusing on both the course content and the construct to ensure a complete and effective transfer of information that prepares trainers to support end user training. Works to advance trainer skills, expertise and tools to position them for success.

2. Continually engages with field contacts, building and strengthening relationships with internal and external national, regional and local staff, to fully understand their goals/challenges/needs, solicit input throughout the training development and delivery cycle, communicate expectations and provide support for end user training.

3. Applies field input and expertise when evaluating learning solutions for quality and business/field impact. Makes recommendations for and implements delivery model improvements based on user feedback, with a focus on incorporating proven and emerging learning technologies to address field needs. Is fluent in and draws on adult learning theory, standards of training delivery and trainer best practices.

4. Partners with instructional designers, field representatives, project managers and other stakeholders to support a broad range of business objectives and training topics including technical/product, process and policy, customer experience and others. Collaborates with instructional designers to analyze the audience, content, technologies, and field/business operational constraints, to shape design and plan delivery project by project.

5. Engages with SMEs and the Advanced Technical Services team to achieve a depth of knowledge for each product or topic for purposes of providing support during pilot, training development and delivery. Manages the installation and testing of sample equipment for Training team use during pilot/development.

6. Leads, mentors and develops a team of direct reports with a keen awareness of and ability to demonstrate and apply DIRECTV’s Leadership Formula. Actively engages direct reports in career planning discussions and professional growth opportunities. Consistently communicates clear expectations and goals, conducting regular performance reviews with honest, constructive guidance.

7. Analyzes, designs, implements and enhances departmental processes and tools to maximize productivity, collaboration, planning and execution. Partners with other teams to identify and capitalize on synergies and drive efficiencies across the enterprise wide training function.

8. Develops and applies a thorough understanding of the business operation, to ensure the training roadmap and training curriculum meets the evolving needs and direction of the business and leadership team.

9. Represents Training dept. in core project meetings, maintaining a constant awareness of all current and future initiatives, needs and status, incorporating that knowledge into the overall training process and schedule.

10. Exhibits uncompromising professional and personal integrity; demonstrates consistency between values, words and actions. Is a role model of company values to others.

11. May be required to work extended hours at times, to provide coverage for time-sensitive projects.

12. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

* A bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Instructional System Design, Instructional/Learning Technologies, Workplace Learning or related discipline.

* A minimum of five years, including at least one in leadership/supervisory capacities, in training.

* In depth knowledge of adult learning and training theory, methods and technologies. Demonstrated facilitation skills, and the ability to support and mentor others in these skills.

* Strong project management and organizational skills. Ability to shift between strategic and tactical thinking, to multi-task and prioritize, adapting quickly to evolving stakeholder needs and project status.

· Adept interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to work with a variety of stakeholders (from front-line employees to executive leadership).

· Demonstrated ability to lead a team, mentoring and developing direct reports to achieve professional growth and meet or exceed expectations.

· Professionalism and communication skills to represent DIRECTV in the best possible manner, to establish and maintain business relationships with mutual trust/respect. Self-motivated, able to work autonomously, demonstrating sound business judgment on a consistent basis.

* DBS (satellite) industry experience highly preferred.

* May require up to 15% travel and the ability to expense travel costs prior to reimbursement.
