Job duties of this position may require access to protected patient information (PHI). The team member will be accountable for appropriate use of the record and compliance with all confidentiality and security policy and procedures related to use, access, and disclosure of PHI.
This position is directly responsible to the Charge Nurse/Clinical Leader/Shift Leader/House Supervisor/Director of Department and Director of Nursing. Supervise licensed practical nurses and non-licensed patient care personnel assigned to their area.
The competency and practice of point of care testing is under the direct supervision of the Laboratory Medical Director and/or designee per regulatory rule #1200-6-3-15 Alternate Site Testing, Section (1)(c), 9 of the Tennessee Medical Laboratory Board Division of Health Related Boards. This practice is a collaborative process with the Laboratory and Nursing leaderships.
The Staff RN is a graduate of an accredited school of diploma nursing and is currently licensed to practice as a professional nurse in the appropriate state.
Must be able to complete job related competencies as deemed necessary to the performance of the RN role in the nursing department of employment.
CONTINUING EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
1. Plans and conducts a minimum of two hours of job related educational programs.
2. Obtains 12 hours educational credit.
3. Verbalizes understanding of Shared Governance Model and willingly serves on at least one Shared Governance, hospital committee, task force, or project to improve patient care or work area.
4. Identifies relevant patient care and/or nursing practice KIQ's (key indicators of quality). This is achieved by using PDCA methodology and the appropriate data collection, aggregation, analysis and trending in the demonstration of measurable improvement outcomes.
5. Attends 75% of staff meetings and reads 100% of the minutes of the meetings missed.
